Polaris Energy Storage Network learned that on November 20th, the 2022 World Cup football event opened in Qatar. This World Cup is also the first football match to achieve carbon neutrality. China provided Qatar with the first photovoltaic power, and the electric bus in Yutong, Henan, China took on the conference connection service.
China Yutong Bus and Jinlong Automobile are the only suppliers of special buses in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and they are environmentally-friendly pure electric vehicles. It is understood that this is the first time that new energy buses have served the World Cup as the main force, and it is also the first time that China new energy buses have been introduced in large quantities in large-scale international sports events. In 2020, China Yutong Company successfully won the bid for the service car project in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. With the subsequent orders, Qatar imported 1,500 buses from China, including 888 pure electric buses, serving more than 7,000 staff, volunteers and more than 1.4 million fans related to the event. In addition, in 2020, Hagrid Bus, a subsidiary of Jinlong Automobile, won the largest order in the history of exporting large and medium-sized buses from China to Qatar, with a total of 1,815 cars serving FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
In addition, two-wheeled electric vehicles from China also appeared in this grand event, and Yadea Electric Vehicle recently announced in Guanwei that it will become the official Asia-Pacific sponsor of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The World Cup is also called the most expensive World Cup in history. Qatar, which hosted the World Cup for the first time in winter, has a tropical desert climate. Even if it is chosen to be held in winter, according to the simulation forecast of Nottingham University, the central temperature of the auditorium may even be 42℃. Therefore, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 decided to install air-conditioning in the open-air venues with a capacity of tens of thousands of people, and air-conditioning systems were installed in seven of the eight World Cup stadiums. Hisense Air Conditioning from China is the only designated air conditioner in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in 2022.
However, the use of a large number of air conditioners will inevitably increase the energy consumption level of this competition, and green power has become an important driving force for carbon neutrality in this international competition.
On October 18th, local time, the 800 MW photovoltaic project in Qatar, with a total investment of about RMB 2.98 billion, contracted by China Power Construction EPC, was put into operation. As part of Qatar's "National Vision 2030", this project is the first non-fossil fuel power station, the first large-scale ground photovoltaic power station in Qatar's history with full capacity connected to the grid, the third largest single photovoltaic power station in the world so far, and the third largest single photovoltaic project with tracking system and double-sided modules in the world. Among them, all components adopt Longji "Hi-MO 4" double-sided components, and the sunshine power supply provides a complete set of 1500V inverter solutions. The project is designed to generate 1.8 billion kWh of electricity per year, and it is expected to reduce 26 million tons of carbon emissions after it is put into production, which can meet 10% of Qatar's peak power demand, thus becoming the first step of energy conservation and emission reduction in Qatar.
