Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announced that it has completed the trial operation of 0.45MW small gas turbine. It is said that this type of gas turbine is specially designed for hospitals, large facilities, factories and hotels, and can mix 35% of hydrogen as fuel for power generation.
Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) announced that it has completed the test of its first hydrogen fuel gas turbine for cogeneration system. The gas turbine is equipped with a dual-fuel system, which can use natural gas and hydrogen for efficient cogeneration.
The gas turbine can generate 0.45MW power, and can mix 35% hydrogen as power generation fuel.
MHI said it was designed to supply hospitals, large facilities, factories and hotels that have already used gas turbines to generate electricity for cogeneration as internal generators.
This is the first dual-fuel gas turbine in Japan that can use 35% hydrogen as power generation fuel. At the same time, Japan is also developing a 100% hydrogen-burning gas turbine. Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) of Japan and Obayashi, a domestic comprehensive construction company, have been developing hydrogen fuel gas turbine technology to improve efficiency and mix hydrogen with natural gas as power generation fuel for future commercial use.
